What is a membrane switch
Membrane switch is a new type of electronic component that integrates light, machinery and electricity. It is a fundamental change in the appearance and structure of electronic products. Buttons that can easily replace conventional discrete components perform operating system tasks more reliably. Moreover, the membrane switch has strong waterproof, dustproof, oil-proof and harmful gas corrosion resistance.
It has many advantages such as stable and reliable performance, light weight, small size, long life, convenient assembly, washable panels without damage to characters, rich colors, and elegant appearance.
Structural composition of membrane switch
1. Panel layer. The panel layer is generally made by silk-screening exquisite patterns and characters on colorless transparent sheets such as PET and PC. The main function of the panel layer is the identification and button function. The selected materials must have high transparency, high ink adhesion, High elasticity, high toughness and other characteristics.
Second, the surface glue layer. The main function of the surface adhesive layer is to closely connect the panel layer and the circuit layer to achieve the effect of sealing and connection. This layer generally requires a thickness between 0.05---0.15MM, and has high viscosity and anti-aging properties. In production, special membrane switch double-sided adhesive is generally used. Some membrane switches are required to be waterproof and high temperature resistant, so the surface adhesive must also use materials of different properties according to needs.
3. The upper and lower layers of the control circuit. This layer uses polyester film (PET) with good performance as the carrier of the switch circuit pattern, and uses a special process to screen-print conductive silver paste and conductive carbon paste on it to make it conductive, and its thickness is generally 0.05-- Within 0.175MM, the most common is to use 0.125MM PET.
Membrane switch is the product of the development of social science and technology. Due to its beautiful appearance, convenient use, moisture resistance and corrosion resistance, and long service life, membrane switches have been widely used in various electronic devices, effectively improving our quality of life. However, it is still necessary to pay attention to protecting the membrane switch during normal use, and it should be dust-proof and moisture-proof.
